Accessibility Statement
The Michigan Assistive Technology Program (MATP) is committed to ensuring that www.mi-at.org is accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility is central to our mission .
Our commitment
MATP is committed to meeting applicable federal accessibility requirements, including Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. § 794d), and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These are the technical standards referenced by Section 508 and by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Title II web accessibility rule.
Accessibility features on this site
Our website is designed with the following features to support accessibility:
- A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page for keyboard and screen reader users
- Descriptive alternative text for images
- Logical heading structure to support navigation by screen reader
- Keyboard-navigable menus and interactive elements
- Descriptive link text
- Color choices intended to provide sufficient contrast
- A responsive layout that adjusts to different screen sizes, zoom levels, and orientations
- Compatibility with current versions of major screen readers, including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack
Known limitations
While we work to ensure the accessibility of www.mi-at.org, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known areas we are actively addressing include:
- Some older PDF documents and resources may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We are working to remediate these and can provide accessible alternatives on request.
- Some embedded third-party content, such as external forms (for example, Google Forms used for demonstration requests) and social media feeds, may not fully meet our accessibility standards, as they are maintained by outside providers.
- Some older images may have limited alternative text that we are in the process of improving.
If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please let us know so we can address it.
Alternative formats and assistance
If any content on our website is not accessible to you, or if you would prefer to receive information in an alternative format — such as large print, plain text, accessible PDF, Braille, or another format that works for you — we will provide it at no cost. We can also assist you directly by phone or email.

We regularly review our website, train our staff on accessible content practices, and incorporate feedback from the disability community to improve the experience for all users. We view accessibility as both a legal obligation and a core value.
