Your technology, your choices, your life—let's explore the possibilities together.
What is Assistive Technology (AT)?
Assistive Technology (AT) refers to any item, device, or piece of equipment used to maintain or improve the functionality of people with disabilities, allowing us to be more independent in education, employment, recreation, and daily living activities.
How do I know what AT to ask for?
Many of us don't realize what assistive technology options are available for ourselves, our family members, or our employees. Think about how you want to interact with the world around you. What activities did you once enjoy that you do less of now? What daily tasks could you use support with?
Do you squint when reading your phone? There are AT features that can help make text more visible and comfortable to read. Did you used to fish every weekend but haven't since your car accident? There's AT for that—from adaptive fishing rod holders to beeping bobbers. Have you dreamed of becoming the next great American baker but thought your disabilities might prevent you from cooking? There is AT for that too—from adapted kitchen tools to voice-controlled appliances that can transform your culinary experience.
Maybe you already know exactly what AT you want to try, and that's great! Give us a call so we can support you. But if you don't know what might help, that's completely okay. Just reach out, and we'll have a conversation to learn more about your wants and needs. We'll start from there, and if we can't help you directly, we'll work to connect you with those who can.

AT Demonstrations & Device Loans
We offer completely FREE demonstrations that help you make decisions about which Assistive Technology will best meet your needs by comparing different device features.
We are truly statewide—providing services in every county. No matter where you live in Michigan, our team can reach you! What sets our program apart is how we smash through transportation barriers! We come to YOU—whether that's in your home, at your local restaurant, or at your workplace.
Sometimes trying AT for just a moment isn't enough. Our FREE device loan program allows you to borrow assistive technology for typically 14-45 days and use it in your own environment. [Explore AT demonstrations and loans →]

Michigan Assistive Technology Program
The Michigan Assistive Technology Program likes to say "we're a program for people with disabilities, by people with disabilities." As most of our staff are people with disabilities who use assistive technology. We always like to keep at the center of our implementation the heart of the Assistive Technology Act.
MATP meets both the letter and the spirit of the Assistive Technology Act, the primary purpose of which is "to support State efforts to improve the provision of assistive technology to individuals with disabilities of all ages."
Your Needs, Your Solutions, Your Partnership

At the Michigan Assistive Technology Program, we believe that assistive technology is as unique as the people who use it. Every person's needs, goals, and circumstances are different, which is why we focus on partnership, personal planning, and individual support to help you find the AT solutions that work best for your specific situation.
